It’s always easier to get those heart to hearts after someone has spent a bunch of time breaking stuff so is too tired to make an escape. Barring that, luring them with ice cream heart to hearts also work.
Granted as an adventurer Dan normally would want to be considered a role model. But then again, good role models are rarely considered cool so much the guy who shows up to grade schools to talk about magic safety.
